Careers in Music
The Careers in Music program helps close the music industry labor gap by educating students and educational professionals in K-12 and higher edudion. about career opportunities in the music products industry.
A career in music includes hundreds of viable choices in addition to the traditional performer and teacher pathways. Music and the creative industries—including pro-audio, event technology, and more—are dynamic and constantly expanding. Individuals with creativity, technical skills and curiosity, organizational skills, teamwork, and a passion for music are highly sought after.
Scholarships & Awards
The Foundation invests in the continued professional development of its members and future industry leaders by helping to alleviate the financial obstacles to career advancement.
Bernice Ash Memorial Award
The Bernice Ash Memorial award provides mid-career NAMM member professionals, or employed by a NAMM member company, with a $5,000 award to use toward professional development, and an optional $750 travel stipend is provided to attend The NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA. Awardees are also provided with a one-year mentorship through the NAMM Young Professionals organization.
Lamond GenNext Award
This award supports students enrolled in two- or four-year college, university, or technical programs and are preparing for a career in the music, sound, and entertainment technology industry, with a $750 travel stipend to attend The NAMM Show.
Women of NAMM Scholarships
The Women of NAMM (WoN) Scholarships support women at the manager level or higher who are NAMM members or employeed by a NAMM member company.
William R. Gard Scholarship
The William R. Gard Memorial Scholarship awards $2,000 to employees of NAMM member companies who are pursuing education and careers in the music products industry.
NAMM Foundation-College Music Society Faculty Fellows
The NAMM Foundation-College Music Society Faculty Fellows program provides a $500 travel stipend to attend The NAMM Show for higher education faculty who develop business leadership and innovation curricula in music, pro-audio, and event technology, and who are committed to helping students carve out a path for a career in music.
