The NAMM Foundation celebrates and promotes the intrinsic value of music making for people of all ages. Each year, The NAMM Foundation provides support for targeted nonprofit organizations advancing access to music making and implementing innovative music learning programs serving diverse audiences. These recipients of NAMM Foundation Music Making Program Grants are expanding access to music making and music education.

One of this year’s NAMM Foundation grantees is EngAGE, Inc., a nonprofit organization that creates community and changes lives by transforming affordable apartment communities into vibrant centers of teaching and learning, artistic exploration, creativity and engagement for over 5,000 people living in affordable communities in Southern California, Oregon and Minnesota.

EngAGE delivers life-enhancing, tailored programming in well-being, the arts, lifelong learning and inter-generational opportunities. As a NAMM Foundation grant recipient, EngAGE will collaborate with local partners to offer two semesters of weekly music classes to seniors in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and families living in affordable housing in Glendale, California. These classes will aim to battle social isolation and loneliness among residents while increasing a sense of purpose and social engagement, offering all participants the joy of music learning. Each course will offer comprehensive and consistent curriculum with tailored options for skill-building and learning, and will culminate in community-building events recognizing and honoring participant accomplishments in each city, allowing them to share their work with friends, family and the public.
