Speaking with Your School Administrator about The NAMM Show

While the choice to become an individual NAMM member might be an easy decision for you, especially since it includes complimentary access to The NAMM Show, your school administration might like some additional information as to why they should help support your attendance and membership.

Here are three recommendations for asking your administration for approval to attend The NAMM Show:

  1. Determine three quantifiable goals you’d like to achieve.
Include action words such as: “learn,” “network,” “gain,” and “discover.” For example:
Learn about innovative ideas that I can bring back to the classroom.
Network and build relationships with 5 new companies.

  2. Outline the costs.
Be clear about the full cost of the event – including registration fee, hotel nights, and travel costs. Providing the cost details will help your administration with the decision-making process.

  3. Send a formal request.
Now that you have done all your research, you can put it in writing. To help get you started, we’ve created a sample letter you can use as a template to draft your request.
